Acting is imagining

Hello there! It’s been a crazy week. Lots of stuff to do but very exciting and no time for blogging. Promise to change that and pop by at least twice a week. At least for a start.

I’m pretty excited about the imminent release of the Romanian version of “Four Doors and Other Stories”.  It’s going to be slightly different than the English one. Let me give you some hints. It contains 21 stories instead of …12. It is available both in print and digital. The cover is simply….wonderful. As Hary, my publisher puts it, “in all aspects, it’s  going to be a beautiful book.” I don’t know if that’s because we share the same birthday date (the 4th of May) but it seems we have a thing in common: doing things our way, differently. Let me give an example.  “4 Usi si Alte Povesti” is probably the first book available for sale in a luxury grocer’s shop. I like the idea and I’ll tell you why. Food tastes differently and nurtures us better when eaten with a positive mind and attitude, no worries or anger. Read some good literature before lunch and you’re on for a healthy meal!

I had my second acting lesson yesterday. We are still at the basics, doing exercises that teach us being present, observing, being able to give quick responses, liaising with the text. Until yesterday, for me acting equalled… faking. But now I know that acting means ….imagining. It’s one of the greatest, most wonderful exercises of stepping into new shoes and reinvent yourself. I recommend it to you all with all my heart.
