Last week-end, Dublin was taken over by writers from three continents. I was one of them, of the many who joined BooksGoSocial Writers Conference No wonder 26th of June, 2015 is a date I shall always remember!

The organisers welcome me with friendly smiles and open hearts while Dublin contradicted the weather app on my phone and showed its sunny face every day. Set up in the cosy Irish Writers Center (near Parnell Square) the BooksGoSocial Writers Conference conference gathered under the same roof writers from Ireland, England, Romania, Australia and the United States of America. Fifty people eager to polish their craft and digital marketing abilities by attending various workshops. Jean Gill – author, photographer, writing craft instructor, Margaret Murphy – bestselling author, writing craft instructor, Jessica Morrell – author, writing craft speaker, Debbie Young -PR guru & commissioning editor at the Alliance of Independent Authors, Catherine Ryan Howard – author and Laurence O’Bryan – author, digital marketing expert, founder of booksgosocial.com grabbed the attendants’ attention with powerful and well prepared seminars. The LGBT Pride Parade, that started right in front of the Irish Writers Centre on Saturday morning, remained just a background noise we paid little attention to (except during the lunch break when almost everybody went out and took pictures).

There are many things that will stay with me. Meeting the wonderful Jean Gill. Jean led a great workshop, highly interactive, which put a big DON’T DO IT sign on sentences such as: ‘John loved Alice’. Being into Margaret Murphy’s “Cooking Up A Good Story” seminar and finding out the secrets of a killer opening paragraph. Learning from Laurence O’Bryan how to manage all my social accounts wisely. New friends and Dublin’s one of a kind vibe.
